Shout out out out out out out out

So tonight me and my friend Deano met up with Brendan and Ashley at the Pyramid to witness the might and power of Shout Out Out Out Out from Edmonton, tearing it up once again in Winnipeg.
What's with this guy and bananas?
Me and Brendan drank all the Little Scrapper available, so we had to switch to the Bulldog, a darker amber beer with a strong yet defined taste. This moosehead tastes like garbage after that.

Anyways, I missed the opening act San Serac, ooof course. But Rob Vilar found that guy good enough to buy his CD, which contained some exclusive "DJ Dubs". Interesting. Rob Vilar is a DJ, can you connect the dots here? Mike B was pretty pissed that he and Rob were told they had the night off by the Pyramid mgmt. It's true though, the crowd was thin as one would expect at the end of a weekend in Winnipeg. I guess we could say only the hardcore show up to these things on Sundays after getting completely trashed all weekend to celebrate Halloween or whatever.

The Edmonton boys were up to their usual cheap tricks, with a wide variety of synths, drum machines, vocoders, moogs, oldschool and nu-school technology. I would hate to be their sound guy. Good thing they bring their own. As a result, the sound in the room was absolutely kosher, for once.

As Brendan was quick to point out, the tempo was a little slow it seemed, perhaps a clear indication of just how everyone at the show, including the band, were feeling the aftermath of an intensely wild weekend. They delivered some of their classics with the fat bass riffs that I go apeshit over, and even some spacey electro jams, that I can't quite describe, probably because I was too busy chatting with babes. Yeah right.

They offered the audience a preview of what's to come on their next album, that they've been recording over the last 6 months, can't wait to hear it.

All in all, these ex-punks turned electro dance kings totally still kick ass and I bought a T-Shirt to support them on their endeavours.

This is what going to a live electro show should be. Not 2 Dj's spinning the latest remixes, but musicians performing using real instruments performing originals tracks, with intensity and passion. Big up to Shout out out out out for that. Them and Soulwax <3 .

God speed friends, I'm off to Montreal in 2 days! Might try to catch Deerhunter while I'm there...

Fuck Winnipeg.
