It's been a busy week at the office folks, albums dropping left right and center. So much that I can't get out. I'm stuck here working my way towards the door, having to listen to every album blocking my way.
This glitchy noise pop voyage into the deep reaches of psychedelia is the equivalent of expensive caviar, but for my ears. It is said that listening to this album 34 times in a row will induce a hallucinogenic trance... I'm at 23... fingers crossed! Out Arpil 6th via Warp Records
This collaborative concept album is so saturated with talent that in the end it loses all cohesion. Plain and silly. Only track that stands out for me is the instrumental version of Stylo, which isn't even on the album. Out now via Parlophone/Virgin
Vancouver's Bradley shines most when his song writing talent is unleashed without the help of violent drum machines. That being said, MountainTigerWolf's electro/acoustic schizophrenia will definitely stand out as one of the more interesting Canadian listens this year. Out now via Drip Audio
Featuring seven previously unreleased tracks, Valleys of Neptune offers an interesting glimpse of Jimi's unheard treasures, albeit post mortem. I'm just happy about this 8 minute version of Red House, classic. A must listen for any fans the genius of Hendrix! Out via Legacy on March 9th
Continuing in the Swedish pop tradition and within the artistic precedents set by their Labrador Records peers, this Gothenburg quartet simply write good songs. Carefully orchestrated strings, ever clever production and Anna Persson's vocals all play pivotal roles to this album's success. Out now via Labrador Records
Following 2008's Falling Off The Lavender Bridge, Dev Hynes is back with his Sophomore effort. Unfortunately Life is Sweet, Nice to Meet You falls short of earning the praise I expected to give it. The songs aren't as good. The saving grace here however is track number three, There's Nothing Underwater, which in true pop fashion, will definitely be one the year's best tracks. Out now via Domino Records
That is all for now.
