R.I.P. CD 1982-2010

In the mid 90s, the CD based music industry was thriving as consumers were buying record amount of CDs every year. Now in 2008, almost 2009, those days are but a distant memory. The CD is nearly dead, and with it, the record sales in music. In the ashes of the record industry who has epically failed to foresee this change in the market, a culture of online mp3 shops has emerged. Here are a few of them:

Zunior is based in Ontario and specializes in Canadian indie and support every label you can think of. Great little shop where you can get your mp3s for pretty cheap, compared to retail CD prices. The can even sometimes mail you a CD and give you high quality FLAC versions of the same album for 15$!

Juno specializes in European electro, house, breaks. Here again, prices are very reasonable ( in USD nonetheless)

Here are a few more that are great for electro:
Beatport
Zero Inch
Bleep

The revolution has begun. Get your music delivered straight to your hard drive via these web shops! Did i mention they are all DRM free? (FUCK YOU APPLE!)

To make matters worse for the music industry, we are facing one of the worst recessions in recent history. Meaning that people will have less money to spend on music...
The rest of this story belongs in another post...
