Jesse's Top 10 Albums of 2007

well

its that time of the year again

The year 2007 was pretty good, pretty good...

Here are my favorite 10 albums in no particular order.

Let's get to it shall we:

10) Autokat - Late Night Shopping (Akoustik Anarkhy)

This album is full of powerful guitar focused rock that creates spacey and melodic songs well worth listening.

9) Calexico - Tool Box (Our Soil Our Strength)

Instrumental goodness delivered with melodies and instrumentations that bring a fusion of spanish folk, jazz, funk...

8) Iron & Wine - The Shepperd's Dog (Sub Pop)

More guitar based folk songs from the master Sam Beam. I can't get enough!

7) Field Music - Tones of Town (Memphis Industries)

This band doesn't exist anymore, sadly, but they put out a lot of good music over the course of the last couple of years.

6) Grand National - A Drink and a Quick Decision (Recall)

This is carefuly crafted pop songs by an ex The Police cover band. Very Nice.

5) Radiohead - In Rainbows (Independant)

Radiohead. Nuff Said. The more I listen to this album, the more I like it.

4) Great Lake Swimmers - Ongiara (Nettwerk)

This album was the soundtrack of my spring. This music is just beautiful. Tony Dekker has a great voice and can write some stellar songs.

3) Schwarz - Heavengazers (Acuarela)

This Spanish band blew my face off when I heard them the first time. A mix of electro, rock, drone, psychedelic, post-rock... a real treat!

2) Jose Gonzalez - In Our Nature (Imperial)

I loved his songs on the Zero 7 album called The Garden that came out in 2006. On this one, Jose delivers melodicaly rich acoustic songs. He has a hell of a voice too!

1) Little Dragon - Little Dragon (Peacefrog)

So fucking good. The fusion of electro-RNB-triphop exercised by this Swedish band is executed flawlessly.

So there. You have it.

Fuck your pitchfork.
